The recent approval of P442, the Elexon Balancing and Settlement Code modification, opens up the potential for community energy groups to export renewable energy more easily and cheaply to commercial end users including local authorities. In addition, a consultation is shortly expected on a modification to P441, which would facilitate the growth of local renewable electricity supply to households. In this online meeting we provided an introduction to license exempt and local supply and presented 3 different perspectives along with Q&A.
Guest speakers:
Helen Martin, Bristol Energy Co-operative (BEC) gave an introduction to license exempt and local supply, and talked about BEC’s experiences and thoughts on local supply.
Tryphena Duddley, Renewable Exchange talked about PPA options post P442 and how license exempt supply works through their platform.
Jason Taylor, Southampton City Council presented the Local Authority perspective and current thinking on local supply.
